Brief Report on Trip to South-Korea

We were in South Korea from April 4 to April 12, 2015. It was a special conference  on "Methodology and Topography for the Study of Religious Movements." Irving and I talked at three universities: Sogang Univesity, Seoul; Honan University, Jeongwang; Wonkwang University, Iksan. There were the formal talks as well as talks with graduate students in seminar settings, and with students generally at Hanon University. We were busy from 8 a.m. to between 10 or 11:30 p.m. every day.

The conference and the whole trip was superbly organized. Everything was hi tech, hi speed, on time, and fascinating. The trip, including the speed train from Seoul to Jeongwang or to Iksan, was an eye opener. Were I young and starting my fieldwork today I would do it in Seoul and South Korea generally. South Korea is a democracy and marks it with an enlightening memorial sight.
